Immigration
Modern transportation technology has made it easier than ever for people to move around the world, and that they are doing.
The most common migration pattern is from overcrowded countries with oppressive regimes to modern democracies.
The United States currently has over ten illegal million immigrants. Understandably, immigration is one of the most pressing of domestic issues.

- Comprehensive Reform is the problem. (added by kd) In this blog post, I contend that the "Comprehensive Reform" process, not amnesty, is the problem. Having a comprehensive immigration bill every couple of decades has created an expectation of amnesty.
- Deliberative Reform (added by kd) If comprehensive reform is the problem, then the answer is a deliberative multiyear approach to reform is the answer.
- Venue for Compassion (added by kd) Pundits try to frame the immigration debate as either being harsh or compassionate. In this blog post I argue that it really is a question of finding the correct venue for compassion.
- Reasons For Deportation (added by kd) I argue that deportation is a necessary part of a visa system. Deporting people who violate a visa is done to defend the Visa system.
- North South Migration (added by kd) I argue that the immigration and temporary worker system should favor the natural North South migration that takes place on the Continent.
- One Way Valve (added by kd) American Immigration reform needs should be discussed in the context of worldwide migration. If the US liberalizes immigration laws, then we should push others to do the same, lest we create a one way valve.
- Critical Race Theory (added by kd) Critical Race Theory is one of those stupid things that left with academicians love.
- Immigration and Baby Boom (added by kd) Retiring Baby Boomers (who need servants) seem more open to immigration than they were when they were competing for jobs.
- May Day Protests (added by kd) Article on the May 1, 2006 Immigration protests, which some thought would be a major turning point in the immigration debate.
- Bad Form (added by kd) I felt that it was bad form to launch law enforcement efforts (May 2006) just as Congress began debating immigration reform.
- California Transplants (added by kd) I note that many of the loudest voices in Utah arguing for immigration reform came from California ... which has a much larger immigration population.
- Thinking and Rethinking (added by kd) A complaint that politicians spend too much time thinking about positioning themselves on an issue rather than solving the issue.
- NAFTA and a Borderless America (added by kd) One direction the immigration debate might take is the development of North America as a unified market.
